Biography
The Maynooth University Chamber Choir has risen to international acclaim as one of Ireland’s most distinguished collegiate vocal ensembles. An auditioned group drawing from across all academic disciplines, the choir is represents the National University of Ireland, Maynooth and Ireland at international events.
Founded in 1986 by Dr. John O’Keeffe, the choir has been at the forefront of choral music in Ireland for over four decades.
Under the direction of Dr. Michael T. Dawson (from 2011-2016, 2020-present) the choir has become a regular touring ensemble, performing international tours and securing landmark competition victories.

2013: 5 State Tour of the U.S, including, New York, Boston, Chicago, Illinois, Indiana,
2014: Tour of Spain, Winning 2 Gold Diplomas at Canta en Primavera - Festival Coral Internacional
2015: Winners of the Choir of the World Competition at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales
2016: 26 Day World Tour of the U.S & China, including, New York, Boston, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Arizona & Colorad
2024: Tour of Malta
2025: Tour of Czechia: Absolute Winners of the 52nd Festival of Songs, Tour of Spain: 37th International Choral Meeting of the City of Torrevieja. Recorded with Dermot Kennedy on his 2026 album “Weight of the Woods”
2026: Tour of Paris with five Concerts, Concerts with Dermot Kennedy on Other Voices, Church Studios London, Avondale Wicklow, Aviva Stadium, O2 London
2027: One of 11 Choirsinvited to perform at the European Festival of Youth Choirs, Basel, Switzerland
